National Cadet Corps
NCC is the largest youth
organization in India governed by the Ministry of Defense
that offers military training to the students of schools
and colleges. With a motto “Unity and Discipline”,
NCC teaches self and team discipline to the youth.
NCC has an 80-hour training
year that commences along with the academic year. The
training modules include drill for smart composure,
weapon training for confidence, map reading for self
reliance, field craft for calculations and lateral thinking,
physical training for toughness, and social service
for leadership and selflessness.
Shooting, cycling, and
trekking activities on regular basis develop the spirit
of sportsman ship in the cadets. The Annual Training
Camps consolidate their training every year. The special
camps and centrally organized camps like Republic Day
Camp, Basic Leadership Camp, Mountaineering Camps in
Himalayas, Para Jumping, Army/Navy/ Airforce attachment
camps, and Youth Exchange Programme to other countries
are some of the important camps that enable the cadets
to see our country as a whole and thus increase their
patriotism.
The B and C certificates
offered by the NCC, after two-year and three-year training
respectively in senior division NCC, get the ex cadets
many incentives like job reservation in Armed forces
and preference in many government agencies and many
private organizations. Apart from the material benefits
NCC makes a student a responsible and disiplined citizen
of India.
MCET has a Senior
Division NCC (Army) EME Unit attached to the 2 (TN)
CTC Company, Coimbatore, with 52 cadet strength. Physically
and mentally tough students are selected against vacancies
available every year. The parades will commence in August
and will be over on or before 31st January. |
