Dr. V.V.Sreenarayanan, Principal
did his Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering
from N.S.S. College of Engineering, Palghat in 1968
and M.Sc. (Engg.) degree in Production Engineering
from P.S.G. College of Technology, Coimbatore, in
1975. Later in 1983, he obtained his Ph.D. in Food
Process Engineering from I.I.T. Kharagpur.
He worked at the College of Agricultural
Engineering, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU)
in various capacities in teaching, research, and extension
activities, for more than three decades in that, he
served as Dean (Ag. Engg.) for about nine years. He
developed many improved Post-harvest and Food Processing
equipment which were released by TNAU to the farming
community and entrepreneurs.
Dr. Sreenarayanan has guided 10
Doctoral (Ph.D.) theses, 19 Masters (M.E (Ag.)) theses
and 15 under students (BE / B.Tech.) Project Works,
while serving at TNAU. He published/ presented 195
research/ popular articles in various National and
International Journals/ Conferences. He worked as
a Visiting Researcher during 1994-95 at the University
of Manitoba, Canada, and also undergone training in
the emerging areas of Food Engineering at the McGill
University, Canada.
Dr. Sreenarayanan was the recipient
of the Best Researcher Award of TNAU in 1995 for his
outstanding research contributions in post-harvest
and food processing. He received Kejriwal award in
1999 for the Best paper published in the Indian Food
Packer. His paper on “Conduction Parboiling
of Paddy” was adjudged as the Best Poster Presentation
during the IV International Food Convention held at
CFTRI, Mysore in 1999. Dr.Sreenarayanan was conferred
with Fellow by the Indian Society of Agricultural
Engineers in 1998.
