Dr. S. VIJAYARANGAN
D I R E C T O R
Prof. S.Vijayarangan, former Principal
of PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, is an Automobile
Engineer from the Madras Institute of Technology,
Chennai. He holds his Master’s degree in Engineering
Design, from Madras University, through PSG College
of Technology, and his doctoral degree from Indian
Institute of Technology, Chennai.
He joined the stream of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
at PSG College of Technology in the year 1978 and
has more than 25 years of teaching and 20 years of
research experience. Under his guidance, 3 PhD scholars
have obtained their doctoral degree and another 6
scholars are working currently. He has to his credit
more than 80 publications out of which 15 papers are
in International and National Journals.
His field of interest and research are automobile
engineering, composite material structures, finite
element analysis and gear engineering. He has offered
consultancy services to many engineering industries.
He has conducted a number of short term courses exclusively
for practicing engineers in different industries;
to name a few HAL-Koraput (Orissa), HAL Bangalore,
BHEL-Trichy, Ashok Leyland-Chennai, Premier Polytronics,
Pricol, and LMW-Coimbatore, etc. He has delivered
guest lectures in more than 50 summer and winter schools,
short term courses, conferences and workshops.
He was presented with the Best Engineering College
Teacher Award by the ISTE (TN&P), the Outstanding
Corporate Fellow Member Award by the Institution of
Engineers (India), the N.K.Iyengar Memorial Award
for the best technical paper presented in the Journal
of Institution of Engineers (India) and Innovative
PhD Project award by the Indian National Academy of
Engineers, New Delhi.
He has been a member of the AICTE Expert Committee
in different Staff Selection Boards and Inspection
Committees. Also, he has been a member of the board
of examiners in different Universities and autonomous
Colleges.
He is a Member of The Indian Society for Technical
Education, a Member of the Society of Automotive engineers,
USA and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers,
India.
Also, he is the current Chairman of The Institution
of Engineers (India), Coimbatore Local Centre.
